Getting a new Tesla Model 3 is one of those experiences that genuinely changes how you think about driving. The acceleration, the silence, the minimalist interior — it all hits differently the first time. But once the new car feeling settles in, most Model 3 owners start asking the same question: what should I add first?
I've put together this list specifically for new Model 3 owners. These aren't flashy upgrades for the sake of it — these are the five accessories that make the most practical difference right away, regardless of which Model 3 trim you own.
1. All-Weather Floor Mats
This is always the first thing I tell new Tesla owners to buy, and it applies to every model. The Model 3's factory carpet looks sharp but it absorbs everything — water, mud, coffee spills, dirt from the gym. Once it's stained it's nearly impossible to get fully clean.
All-weather TPE floor mats are custom fitted to the Model 3's floor, raised at the edges to contain spills, and wipe clean with a damp cloth. It's not the most exciting upgrade but it's the most practical one you'll ever make for your car.
Get them before your first rainy day. You'll thank yourself later.
2. Center Screen Protector
The Model 3's 15.4" touchscreen is the command center for everything — navigation, music, climate control, even your car's settings. It's also the first thing you and every passenger touches constantly.
Without a screen protector, fingerprints build up fast and micro-scratches appear over time. A tempered glass protector with an anti-glare coating solves both problems at once. It makes the screen easier to see in direct sunlight and keeps it looking brand new.
This is one of those accessories that costs very little but protects something very expensive to replace.
3. Center Console Organizer
The Model 3's center console is deep and spacious which sounds great until everything you put in there disappears to the bottom. Keys, chapstick, coins, charging cables — it becomes a black hole within the first week.
A good center console organizer divides the space into dedicated sections so everything has a place. It makes the interior feel more premium and genuinely saves time every single day. Once you have one you'll wonder how you survived without it.
4. Trunk Cargo Liner
The Model 3's trunk space is more useful than most people expect — but the factory carpet takes a beating fast. Whether you're loading groceries, gym bags, or luggage, things slide around and the carpet gets dirty.
A custom-fit TPE cargo liner solves this completely. It's waterproof, non-slip, and takes about 30 seconds to wipe clean. It also protects your trunk's resale value, which matters more than people realize when it comes time to sell or trade in.
5. Paint Protection Film for High-Impact Areas
The Model 3's paint is beautiful — and it's vulnerable. Rock chips on the hood edge, scratches on the door cup handles, and wear on the front bumper all happen faster than you'd expect, especially on highways.
You don't need to wrap the entire car. Targeting the high-impact areas with TPU paint protection film makes a huge difference for a fraction of the cost of a full wrap. Door cup handle protectors are especially worth it since that's where most people see scratching first.
Protecting your paint early is always cheaper than fixing it later.
Bonus: Phone Mount
This one didn't make the top 5 but it deserves a mention. Tesla's built-in phone holder in the Model 3 is functional but not great — it doesn't charge wirelessly on all trims and the position isn't ideal for everyone.
An aftermarket magnetic phone mount with wireless charging gives you better placement, stronger holding power, and a cleaner look. It's a small upgrade that you interact with every single time you get in the car.
The Bottom Line
You don't need to accessorize everything at once. Start with the five above and you'll have the most important bases covered — interior protection, screen protection, organization, cargo protection, and paint protection. Everything else can come as you settle into owning the car and figure out how you use it day to day.
The Model 3 is already an exceptional car. These accessories just make sure it stays that way.
